Due to the geo-political situation in the world from the mid-40's until the fall of the Soviet Union, the beauty of the women "behind the iron curtain" was largely unknown to me. The only women we saw from the USSR on a regular basis were Olympic Athletes, and many of them weren't overly feminine. Then the wall came down and the flood of amazingly gorgeous images of women from Russia, Ukraine and other former Soviet republics hit the internet. The greatest treasure the world has ever seen. Now, over the years of my personal and online interaction with such women, I've discovered that probably 3 times out of 4, when a gorgeous WotFSU (Women of the Former Soviet Union) appears on my screen or in the real world before me, when I inquire as to where she's from, it's Ukraine.
